I loved the video games when I played them as a kid, so I am kind of biased, but I liked what they did with it.

They did change the story from the game but for me they made up for it with good acting and choreography, they gave more depth to characters which in a video game isn't always possible since you are the main character.

Considering how bad most movies based on games can be, this is one of the better ones, but if you are not a fan of the games you might not understand or get many aspects of the movie.

    4.0 out of 5 stars Good Sci-Fi Flick, August 30, 2011

Let me start by saying I'm a HUGE DooM fan. I waited for this movie since getting hooked on the shareware version of the game all those years ago. Finally, the movie was made. Was it worth the wait? Yes and no.

Some of it is a little goofy at times, but overall the acting was fine. The special effects were well done, especially the famous BFG. The monsters were well designed and looked very close to those in the game. The plot was well thought out for a standard action film.

Now the bad. The monsters weren't actual demons. No hellish imagery in which the game is famous for were used. Not all the monsters were used (I... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Resident Alien, March 30, 2011
This review is from: Doom (Unrated) (Amazon Instant Video)
The previous reviewer didn't like this movie. I loved it.
It bums me out that if I hadn't seen it before reading the previous review, I might not have watched it.
If you like the Resident Evil movies, and/or like playing video games; then you will probably like this movie.
